Good point. Coackroaches will outlive us too. My statement is valid when I limit the scope, as I should have done. I certainly was thinking of complex organisms with similar characteristics where the main difference is the level of intelligence. Of all the hominidae, humans are better equipped for survival mainly because their higher intelligence. Are there other traits that make us weaker? I don't know, let's wait for the next global catclysm.
however- many jw's who have come into the jw organization from like 1985 forward virtually may have no knowledge of the wt society's 1975 debacle and false predictions of the end times or armageddon predictions.
just like in in the book 1984 by george orwell the wt society has a way of not only erasing it's history so no newer witnesses will be aware of their false predictions, but also they are re-writing their history as if those false predictions never happened.. so for those of you here who may have never read or heard of how whipped up into an emotional frenzy witnesses were in the years just before 1975 by the wt society claiming the end was any day now- this threads for you.
to see the pressure that was put on jw's by the wt society to get rid of everything before " armageddon " .
"Armageddon in 1975" is an excellent book. I found a site to get it. I am not sure if that's the one I got the book from. Be cautious.

Morality in humans is a function of their higher intelligence. So I rather keep it simple. Intelligent beings are better equipped for survival. It is precisely intelligent individual of a species that improve the chances of survival of the group with higher intelligence. Having said that, my premise doesn't change. Morality is created by the leaders/strong to control the led/weak for the benefit of the whole species, or sometimes for the exclusive benefit of the strong. However, I see a trap. When there are limited or insufficient resources to be shared or adverse conditions appear in the environment, we go back to the primeval form of survival of the fittest. Morality only works when there's abundant resources to be shared. Morality stregthens the group, but weakens the individual. 1000 years ago, many "weak" children would die because they couldn't survive on their own. Today, thanks to advances in the medical field and morality those children have almost 100 % chance of survival. The human race maybe strong and numerous, but the average individual is weaker. I am only stating the facts as I see them; I am not even hinting at eugenics. Morality is so ingrained in me by 48 years of indoctrination that the very idea of using the word makes me feel guilty. Yes, I have become weaker too.
last thursday i was propmpted by a recent thread to read the daily text (feb 28, 2013).
i then had the audacity to send a text message to all four jw's nephews/nieces (in their mid 20's).
i offered my opinion by summarizing it "put and shut up".

The de facto "apostate" is my own term. I put it in quotation marks for the same reason the NWT writes the name "Samuel" in quotation marks (1 Samuel 28:14-20). The WT needs to twist the meaning of Samuel to keep consistency of a doctrine. I need to inform the reader that I don't associate with the meaning of the word in quotation marks. However, my actions may be deemed by JW's as apostasy.
What I implied is that my niece has gotten similar messages and emails from me before, and told me that she will not respond to them. The other three nephews never received these type of messages before and were willing to engage in a brief exchange of text messages.

You sounded very objective until the "pessimistic"part. Either I am wrong or I am not. Since morality is more a subject of metaphysics than science, I am going to call it 50/50 just to throw a number, but "pessimistic" coming from a guy who does such a great job at defending science?

I got the book, but it's a subject that is hard for me to get interested in. I have read the "Gentile Times Reconsidered" few times, That's me, that's my subject.
After reading many posts about Hassan's books, reading the book is a must for me. I just wish mind games, persuasion and psychology were my thing.They are not. I have to work hard at it.
My objective essentially is to spread real truth. I am coming to the conclusion that religion brings more harm than good.

Thank you for your post and the daily text too. My decision to text my nephews was quite spontaneous. I never did it before, except for my niece. They all are fine people surrounded by equally fine people. I strongly believe that they and most of their friends would be great people even without religion. They are young and intelligent, fairly educated and have access to the internet. My niece actually majored in child psichology (don't ask why she can't perceive the cognitive dissonance!!!!) I believe that they will see the light one day. Time will tell. My job is done; I should not insist on this type of communications for the sake of familiy harmony. I should point out that in my exchange I made sure to write that "I could prove with facts and evidence that the WT lies deliberately". That statement should plant some doubt. My nephews know that, despite of my lack of religion, I have demonstrated to be a "worldly" person in good standing with all JW's who know me, possibly hundreds. Even the replacement of the C.O. and congregation top elder in one of the local circuits in So Cal wrote to me in an email that he heard that I was a "good man" at dinner conversations with my brothers, who happened to be the parents of the nephews/niece mentioned above.
